Women's belts

A belt is the smallest piece in an outfit and often the one that makes it. Forcast belts are cut to sit with our pants, skirts, dresses and blazers, in leather, suede and woven leather, in widths from slim to statement. The range includes classic styles like the Hennessy Leather Belt, reversible options like the Kelly Leather Reversible Belt, and adjustable styles like the Lupita Adjustable Belt for a waist that changes between a dress and a high-waisted trouser.

Slim, wide or woven

A slim leather belt threads through the loops of tailored work pants and disappears into the outfit, which is what you want under a tucked shirt. A wider belt is a styling piece: worn over a shirt dress, a knit dress or a blazer, it draws the waist in and gives an unstructured piece a shape. Woven leather, such as the Alexandra Woven Leather Belt, and suede, such as the Amalie Suede Belt, add texture to plain fabrics and sit well with linen and denim.

How to wear a belt to work

With tailored trousers, match the belt to your shoes and keep the buckle small. With a work dress, belt the natural waist and let the skirt fall from there; a midi belted reads more finished than one left loose. Over a long cardigan or a blazer, a belt turns loose layering into a deliberate silhouette, and the buckle metal is easiest kept in the same family as your jewellery.

Sizing a belt

Choose by where you plan to wear it. A belt for pant loops is measured at the hip, while one for dresses and blazers is measured at the natural waist, so the two are rarely the same size. A reversible or adjustable style covers both if you would rather buy once.

How to shop the range

If you are finishing a suit, look at jackets and blazers and choose the belt last, once you know the shoe. Belts sit with the rest of the finishing pieces in accessories.
