Women's denim: jeans and denim skirts

Denim is the off-duty side of the Forcast range, and this collection brings all of it together in one place: jeans in every cut we make, plus denim skirts in mini, A-line, panelled and slit shapes. Everything comes in sizes 4 to 18, and most of it is cut to hold up in a business casual office as well as on a Saturday.

Choosing a cut

The jeans run from the Lesley Skinny Jean at the narrow end through to the Manon Wide Leg Jeans and Kallie Denim Culotte at the wide end, with high-waisted and pin tuck styles in between. The barrel legs, including the Leighton Barrel Leg Jeans, curve through the thigh, while the flares come full length or cropped above the ankle. If you are deciding between two, think about the shoes you wear most: a cropped flare wants a visible shoe, a wide leg is happier covering one.

Denim skirts

Skirts give the same ease in a different shape. The Thessy Denim Mini Skirt is the shortest in the range, while the Nancy A-Line Denim Skirt sits longer and is the easier one to wear to work. Panelled styles use seams to shape the line, and the Brynn Slit Denim Skirt has a split so you can walk in it. Other lengths and fabrics sit under skirts.

What to wear with it

Denim reads as casual, so what you put with it decides where it can go. A crisp shirt from shirts and blouses, a tailored piece from jackets and blazers and a heel will make jeans or a denim skirt office-ready in a relaxed workplace. A tee and a flat take it the other way. Darker washes read as more formal than light ones, which is worth remembering when you are building a business casual outfit around a pair of jeans.

How to shop it

Try your usual size first and adjust from there, since cut changes the way a waistband sits. Check the size guide if you are between sizes or shopping a shape you have not worn before, and finish the outfit with a belt or bag from accessories.
