CONSCIOUS MATERIALS & SOURCING

From the inception of every design, out team ensures that every style is timeless and practical, to ensure the longevity of our garments. Our commitment to developing high-quality fashion is at the heart of what we do. We ensure the longevity of our pieces by fusing timeless design styles with premium quality fabrication. Our focus also lies in the trans-seasonality of the pieces, encouraging an intentional and sustainable capsule wardrobe. In our journey towards fashion circularity, we are excited to offer garment repairs and also improve our garment recycle programs, and work with charities and agencies to keep textiles out of landfill.

We are also making significant investments to ensure sustainability at every stage of the product life cycle. Forcast has proudly launched our Conscious line from August 2022. This marks the beginning of our product sustainability strategy and we are commited to incorporating more sustainable materials into our line going foward.

FORCAST Conscious features products that are sustainablity sourced including items made up of 40% or more sustainable materials or have sustaniability responsible elements in the manufacturing process. To us, sustainable materials are:

  • Garments made of 40% or over of recycled cotton
  • Garments made of 50% or over of linen, organic cotton and recycled fibres such as polyester

We're living in a material world, and that's why we are always improving on the fibres we choose.

COTTON

Cotton is made by spinning raw cotton into threads, which are the woven into fabrics. Notably an all-natural fibre, cotton is 100% compostable and biodegradable and can be easily recycled into new yarn or garments.

WOOL

Wool is a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre. it consumes less energy and water to produce a garment in comparison to most fibres and does not contribute to microplastic pollution in our environment.

LINEN

Made from the flax plant, linen is one of the most durable materials used in the fashion industry. Better yet, every part of the flax pant is used to create a product so there's no natural waste and it's all worthwhile! Although this comfortable, breathabe fabrication is long-lasting, when it does reach the end of its lifespan, it's compostable and quick to degrade.

RECYCLED

Recycled fibres are made from materials that have served their intended use and are then reclaimed/saved from waste, to be repurposed and transformed into new fabrication. The use of recycled fibres means reducing the demand for virgin raw materials while keeping textiles from polluting our environment.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

Recycled polyester is made from used plastic bottles that are recycled into a yarn fabrication. This material diverts PET bottles from landfill and thus, minimises soil contamination, air and water pollution. It's also possible to re-recycle this material again and again without a loss in quality.

We know that being a sustainable business is a journey and so we are actively learning about how we can implement sustainable improvements across the range and the brand
We also continue to only engage with suppliers and manufacturers that align with our core values and share the same ethical standards.
